Cairo – Mubasher: The electricity ministry has already set the new electricity tariffs to be applied as of next July.
The new tariff rises will be ranging between 35% and 55% for all segments, a top official source told Almal News.
The ministry does not intend to exempt any segment from the increase, the source said, pointing out that any tariff exemption will be made through the Cabinet.
Electricity minister Mohamed Shaker had previously said that the 47% electricity subsidy cut in the next fiscal year will cover all consumer segments.
Egypt aims to reduce electricity subsidies by around 47%, or EGP 16 billion ($906 million), in FY18/19, a government document showed last month.
