Egypt’s expat remittances hit $17bn in 2017 – Minister

Cairo – Mubasher: Remittances from expatriate Egyptians stood at $17 billion in 2017, Al-Akhbar reported, citing Egypt’s minister of manpower and immigration Nabila Makram as saying.

In 2017, the ministry launched the one-stop shop system for housing projects, investment services, industry, recruitment and passports services, in addition to the services complex for Egyptians working abroad in New Cairo, Makram added.

In December, the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) announced that remittances from expatriate Egyptians rose by 38.9% in October 2017 to $2.2 billion, up from $1.6 billion in in the same period a year earlier.
