Egypt’s expenditures record EGP172.2bn in Q1

Cairo – Mubasher: The expenditures figures within the state general budget for Egypt have increased by 1.4% for the financial period from July to September of the fiscal year 2016/17, said Ministry of Finance.

The country’s expenditures increased to EGP 172.2 billion at the first quarter of FY16/17, from EGP 169.9 billion for the same period of the previous year, according to the monthly bulletin for October 2016.

The wages accounted for 32.1%, that is equivalent to EGP 55.3 billion, of the total expenditures of the first quarter of FY16/17.

Moreover, the country’s budget deficit narrowed by 1.9% with the first quarter of FY16/17 as it reached EGP 76.8 billion (representing 2.4% of the country’s gross domestic product) compared with EGP 78.3 billion (representing 2.8% of the country’s gross domestic product) for the same period of the previous year.
