Cairo – Mubasher: The value of Egyptian exports to Nile Basin countries increased by 8.2% to $1.2 billion in 2018, compared to $1.11 billion a year earlier, according to a statement released by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) on Sunday.
Sudan was the top destination for Egypt’s exports to Nile Basin countries with $399.3 million, followed by Kenya, Ethiopia, Eretria, and Uganda, with $354.6 million, $169 million, $116.2 million, and $82.9 million, respectively.
Meanwhile, the value of imports from Nile Basin countries to the North African nation stood at $668 million last year, rising by 75.8% year-on-year from $380 million.
Imports from Kenya reached $287.3 million, while those from Sudan, Congo, Ethiopia, and Uganda amounted to $207.5 million, $148 million, $10.3 million, and $7.8 million, respectively.
