Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s exports to Russia rose by 28.5% to $421 million during the period from January to September 2017 from $327.5 million in the prior-year period.
The Egyptian Ministry of Trade and Industry said that it has received a report from Egypt’s Commercial Office in Russia’s capital Moscow on the indicators of trade between Egypt and Russia during the nine months ended September 2017.
Moreover, the head of the Egyptian Commercial Service Office (ECS) Ahmed Antar attributed the increase in Egypt’s exports to Russia to the rise in fruit exports which amounted to $165.7 million, representing 39.3% of total exports.
Egyptian exports of fresh vegetables surged by 41.6% year-on-year to $175.2 million of total Egyptian exports to Russia in the nine-month period ended September 2017, Antar added.
Egypt's exports of vegetables and fruits to Russia in the nine-month period of 2017 grew by 97.4% and 3.12%, respectively, he indicated.
He further noted that Egypt’s exports to Russia of household appliances leaped 316%, recording $12.63 million, while pharmaceutical products amounted to $7.19 million, rising 54.5%.
Egypt’s exports to Russia of furnishings grew 81.4% year-on-year to $1.4 million in the January-September 2017 period, while crystal products’ exports soared 601% and ceramic exports hiked 96.7%.
