Cairo – Mubasher: Egyptian exports to Turkey surged by 38.5% year-on-year to $1.99 billion in 2017 from $1.44 billion, trade ministry Tarek Kabil said in a statement on Sunday.
Egyptian imports from Turkey stood at $2.36 billion in 2017, versus $2.73 billion a year earlier, Kabil added.
Accordingly, this has helped trade balance deficit between both countries to retreat by 72% year-on-year to $360 million, the minister highlighted.
The number of exports to imports rose to 85% in 2017 from 53% in 2016, Kabil noted, pointing out that Turkey is Egypt’s second importer following the UAE.
This came on the sideline of the minister’s receiving a report on the 2017 trade exchange between the North African nation and Turkey from the Egyptian Commercial Office in Istanbul.
Kabil last said that Egypt’s trade balance deficit dropped by 26% to $12 billion in the first 11 months of 2017.
