Egypt’s finance ministry denies slashing VAT exemptions

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s finance ministry has denied reports about scaling back exemptions of the value-added tax (VAT) in the country’s budget for fiscal year 2019/2020, according to a statement on Wednesday.

The North African nation’s finance ministry seeks to stabilise the tax system including the 14% VAT rate, the statement added.

Any issues related to the implementation of the VAT law will be reviewed by the finance ministry.
