Egypt's foreign debt hits $55.7bn at end of June

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt's external debt increased to $55.76 billion (EGP 495 billion) at the end of June 2016, higher 16% year-on-year from $48.06 billion (EGP 426.9 billion), according to data by the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE).  

In March, the country's foreign debt annually rose 39% to $53.4 billion, the CBE earlier indicated.

The aggregate public debt stood at EGP 2.496 trillion ($280 billion) by the end of March 2016, which represents 88.1% of the gross domestic product (GDP).
