Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s foreign exchange receipts rose 13% to EGP 901.5 billion ($114.8 billion) in 2014/15, compared to EGP 797.9 billion ($101.6 billion) a year earlier, according to the state’s statistics office.
Meanwhile, the country’s foreign exchange payments jumped 13.8% to EGP 824.8 billion from EGP 724.8 billion, as reported by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPAMS).
Exchange receipts from WTO countries increased 6.9% year-on-year to EGP 713 billion from EGP 667 billion, while foreign exchange payments humped 14.4% to EGP 666.5 billion from EGP 582.7 million.
Based on CAPAMS’ bulletin, exchange receipts from member countries in the Council of Arab Economic Unity went up 8.3% to EGP 407.2 versus EGP 375.8. Exchange payments reached EGP 163.1 billion versus EGP 122.1 billion, 33.6% up.
Exchange receipts from the Gulf Cooperation Council stood at EGP 375.1 billion in 2014/15, compared to EGP 344.3 billion, a yearly rise of 9%. Meanwhile, exchange payments grew 35.4% to EGP 148.8 billion versus EGP 109.9 billion.
Finally, EGP 140.7 billion were received from Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation, a 7.3% increase compared to EGP 131.2 billion, while payments edged up by 10.8% to EGP 211.7 billion from EGP 191.1 billion.
