Egypt’s free zones investments reach $26bn

Cairo – Mubasher: The number of free zones’ projects in Egypt reached 1,109, with a total capital of $11 billion and investments estimated at $26 billion, said the head of the free zones sector in the Egyptian ministry of investment and international cooperation.

Ahmed Afifi added that free zones’ projects provided 181,800 jobs opportunities.

In nine public free zones, the projects reached 901, with a capital of more than $6 billion, investments amounted to $15 billion, providing 98,000 job opportunities, he noted.

Regarding the private free zones, it included 208 projects, with a capital exceeding $5 billion, and a value of investments at $11.2 billion, providing 83,500 jobs opportunities.
