Egypt’s glass exports to US hike 112% YoY in eight months

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s exports of glass to the US surged by 111.6% year-on-year (YoY) during the first eight months of 2020 to $34.5 million, making up 17% of the country’s glass exports, the Middle East News Agency (MENA) reported on Monday, citing data by the Egyptian Export Council for Building Materials, Refractories and Metallurgy Industries (ECBM).

The country’s total exports of glass retreated to $204 million over the January-August period, down by 24% from $268 million in the year-ago period, data showed.

Turkey was the second largest importer of Egyptian glass with a value $ 27.987 million, followed by the Netherlands with $13.51 million and Italy with $13.35 million.

Moreover, Spain came in the fifth position with a value of $10.609 million, while the value of glass exports to Sudan reached $10.377 million.
