Cairo - Mubasher: Egypt will see an increase of 4% in home internet (ADSL) bills, beginning September, a source in the Egyptian Ministry of Communications and Information Technology told Middle East News Agency (MENA).
The increase will come as a result of the newly imposed value-added tax (VAT), which will replace the 10% sales tax with a 14% tax.
Another increase of 1% is expected for landline telephone bills, as the VAT law increased the tax from 13% to 14%.
The minister of Communications, Yasser El Qady, said that there have not been any other hikes on internet bills or mobile phones recharge cards.
