Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt's production index of manufacturing and extractive industries, without crude oil and petroleum products, declined 16.4% in June 2016 to 106.38 points (primary) from 127.29 points (final), said the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).
The state agency attributed this decline to the one-shift operation that factories applied after Ramadan.
The total index for the manufacture of food products fell 7.8% to 102.82 points in June from 111.55 points a month earlier due to the decline in producing sugar and animal feed, gradual cut in company's subsidy, and the end of citrus export season.
The total index for the manufacture of basic metals also moved down 34.2% to 72.39 points from 109.99 points on the fall of fuel supply, lack of raw materials, and lower production contracts.
Unlike, the total index for the manufacture of ready-made cloths rose 24.4% month-on-month to 140.55 points from 112.96 points due to production increase to cover the summer seasons' and Eid Al fitr's requirements.
