Egypt’s industrial production rises 6.1% in Q2-17 - CAPMAS

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s industrial production, excluding crude oil and petroleum products, rose 6.1% year-on-year in the second quarter of 2017, according to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics’ (CAPMAS) quarterly bulletin.

The value of industrial production amounted to EGP 135.5 billion in Q2-17, up from EGP 127.7 billion in Q2-16, the CAPMAS highlighted.

The value of food industries, iron, steel, and metal industries, and chemical and fertilisers industries made up 24.6%, 15.9%, and 10.5%of the country’s industrial production, the CAPMAS highlighted.

The value of electronics and medical equipment industries rose 10.2% quarter-on-quarter to EGP 1.8 billion in Q2-17, compared to EGP 1.6 billion in Q1-17.

The value of ready-made clothes fell by 10.5% quarter-on-quarter to EGP 2.6 billion in Q2-17, versus EGP 2.9 billion in Q1-17.

The CAPMAS had previously announced that Egypt’s industrial production rose 11.7% year-on-year in Q1-17, as the value of public and private enterprises’ industrial production amounted to EGP 127.7 billion in Q1-17, up from EGP 114.3 billion in Q1-16.
