Egypt’s inflation eases 0.1% in Dec – CAPMAS

Cairo-Mubasher: Egypt’s consumer price index (CPI) edged lower 0.1% to 175.4 points in December from a month earlier, the government statistics body said on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the country’s annual inflation rate went up to 11.9% in December compared with 11.8% in November 2015, according to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).

CAPMAS attributed the decline of CPI to the decreasing prices of vegetables, fruits, eggs and marine products by 0.1%, 0.1%, 1.2% and 0.2% respectively.

Notably, Egypt’s CPI slid 0.3% m-o-m to 175.6 points in November 2015.
