Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s annual inflation eased to 12.9% year-on-year in April 2018 from 32.9%.
The consumer price index (CPI) rose 1.5% month-on-month, recording 273.9 points last month, the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) said in a statement on Thursday.
The monthly rise in inflation rate was driven by an increase in the prices of vegetables, meat and poultry, grains and breads, fish and seafood, fruits, clothes and shoes, and culture and entertainment by 6.29%, 2.7%, 1.6%, 0.8%, 1.8%, 2.9%, and 1.5%, respectively.
It is worth noting that annual inflation had recorded 13.1% in March 2018.
