Egypt’s inflation falls to 17% in January – CAPMAS

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s annual inflation rate dropped to 17% year-on-year in January 2018, the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) said in a statement on Thursday.

The consumer price index (CPI) dipped by 0.2% month-on-month to 266.3 points last month, the CAPMAS highlighted.

Inflation rate retreated on the back of lower vegetable prices by 3.2%, despite the increase in prices of dairy products and eggs, fruits, and edible oils by 1.2%, 2%, and 1%, respectively.
