Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s annual inflation fell to 15.4% year-on-year in September from 32.9%.
The consumer price index (CPI) increased 2.6% month-on-month, recording 302.7 points last month, the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) said in a statement on Wednesday.
The increase in CPI was mainly driven by the price hikes of vegetables and fruits by 17.2% and 7.4%, respectively.
It is worth noting that the National Bank of Kuwait (NBK) projected the North African nation’s inflation rate to reach 10% in fiscal year 2018/2019.
In September, the CAPMAS said that Egypt’s annual inflation slid to 13.6% in August, from 33.2% in July.
