Egypt’s manufacturing index down 0.6% in December 2019

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian index of manufacturing and extractive industries, excluding crude oil and petroleum products, slid by 0.6% to 132.8 points in December 2019, compared to 133.57 points in November 2019.

The index of ready-made garments rose by 9.6% to 334.51 points last December from 305.20 points a month earlier, the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) said in a statement on Monday.

Meanwhile, the index of pharmaceuticals and medicines increased by 5.7% month-on-month to 252.65 points from 239.11 points in November 2019.

On the other hand, the index of beverages industry fell by 16.7% to 176.52 points last December, compared to 212.0 points in the prior month.

In addition, the index of appliances dropped by 1.9% to 66.98 points in December from 68.29 points a month earlier.
