Cairo – Mubasher: The number of mobile internet users reached 27.4 million in June 2016, compared to 24.1 million in June 2015, showing an increase of 13.7%, according to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).
ADSL internet users grew 20% to 4.2 million users in June 2016, compared to 3.5 million in June in the year before, CAPMAS added in its annual bulletin of wired and wireless telecommunications statistics.
The number of USB modem internet users decreased 17% to reach 3.4 million in June 2016, compared to 4.1 million in the year-ago period.
About 96.2 million lines were active in June 2016.
Fixed telephone lines in the governmental sector fell 10.3%, reaching 123,800 in 2015/2016, compared to 138,000 in 2014/2015.
The number of fixed lines in households went up 5.4% to 5.9 million lines in 2015/2016, compared to 5.6 million lines in 2014/2015, CAPMAS concluded.
