Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s newly-approved tax dispute resolution law gives taxpayers the opportunity to resolve their tax disputes with the Tax Administration without resorting to courts, the minister of finance Mohamed Maait said.
Under the legislation, assets of tax defaulters will be unfrozen upon the payment of 10% of the due taxes, Maait added in a statement on Thursday.
Tax offices across all governorates will receive requests from financiers to resolve their tax disputes until the end of next June.
In addition, late payment fines will be reduced by 30% for taxpayers who reach settlement agreements with the Tax Administration or the dispute resolution committees before the issuance of appeal decisions.
