Egypt’s non-oil exports hit $16.5bn in 8M

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s non-oil exports rose by 10% year-on-year, or $1.54 billion, during the first eight months of 2018, recording $16.54 billion from $14.99 billion.

Meanwhile, Egyptian non-oil imports increased by 12%, registering $43.14 billion in the January-August period of this year, compared to $38.35 billion in the same period a year earlier, according to a statement by the Egyptian trade and industry ministry on Sunday.

External trade exchange grew by 11.8% to $59.68 billion in the eight-month period, versus $53.34 billion in the prior-year period, the ministry indicated.

Trade minister Amr Nassar previously said that the most populous Arab county’s non-oil exports rose by 14.3% year-on-year during the first seven months of 2018, recording $14.89 billion from $13.25 billion.
