Cairo – Mubasher: Egyptian non-oil exports increased by 3% year-on-year during the first nine months of 2019 to $19.201 billion from $18.708 billion a year earlier, according to a recent report, said the minister of trade and industry, Amr Nassar.
The rise in exports has backed lower trade balance deficit which was cut by $669 million meanwhile, he added.
Textiles exports grew by 10% year-on-year to $2.571 billion in the January-September 2019 period when compared to $2.335 billion, said the head of the General Organization for Import and Export Control (GOEIC), Ismail Gaber.
Exports from engineering industries soared by 9% to $1.873 billion in the nine-month period when compared to $1.722 billion a year earlier.
Ready-made garment exports reached $1.268 billion over the nine-month period, 7% year-on-year higher than $1.18 billion.
Meanwhile, the medical sector registered $392 million in the January-September period when compared to $382 million, registering a 3% year-on-year rise.
The USA ranked the first among six countries holding 37% of total Egyptian exports with $1.636 billion, followed by the UAE with $1.414 billion, Saudi Arabia with $1.295 billion, Turkey with $1.232 billion, Italy with $994 million, and the UK with $729 million.
