Egypt’s non-oil exports to China hit $408m in 2017

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s exports of commodities to China rose by 60% in 2017, recording $408 million from $255 million in 2016.

Egypt seeks to become a main hub for trade and logistics that Chinese products can enter Africa and Europe through, Egyptian trade minister Amr Nassar added in a statement on Sunday.

This came on the sidelines of a meeting between the minister and the Chinese ambassador to Cairo Song Aiguo to discuss the future of economic coordination between both countries.

Nassar said that Egypt will participate in China International Import Expo, which will be held next November in Shanghai.

China’s customs agency previously posted that trade exchange with Egypt dropped 4.05% in 2017 to reach $10.8 billion, while Chinese imports from Egypt surged 142.59% to $ 1.3 billion.
