Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s non-petroleum exports to the US leaped by 18.4% in the first 10 months of 2017, Egypt’s trade minister Tarek Kabil said in a statement on Thursday.
Exports amounted to $1.2 billion in the 10-month period of 2017, up from $1.04 billion in the prior-year period, Kabil added.
The minister highlighted that he received a report from Egypt’s Commercial Office in Washington on the indicators of bilateral trade between Egypt and the US during the January-October period.
On the other hand, Egypt’s imports from the US stood at $3.3 billion in the 10 months ended October 2017, up from $2.9 billion in the year-ago period.
Trade exchange between both countries totalled $4.5 billion in the aforementioned period from $3.9 billion, Kabil noted.
The minister previously stated that Egypt’s trade deficit retreated 33% year-on-year to $34.86 billion in the first nine months of 2017 from $23.39 billion.
