Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s non-oil foreign trade rose by 11.8% year-on-year during the first eight months of 2018, recording $59.68 billion, versus $53.34 billion.
Trade exchange between the North African nation and the US rose by 28.2% in the January-August period of this year, registering $4.4 billion, versus 3.436 billion in the same period a year earlier, the Egyptian trade and industry ministry said in a statement on Sunday.
Egypt’s bilateral trade with non-Arab African countries stood at $1.63 billion in the eight-month period, up 19.5% year-on-year from 1.36 billion.
Likewise, trade exchanged between the most populous Arab nation and the Arab countries increased by 9% at the end of August to $8.9 billion, compared to $8.15 billion in the same period of 2017.
Meanwhile, trade between Egypt and the European Union (EU) reached 18.33 billion, rising 3.9% year-on-year, or $687 million, from $17.65 billion.
It is worth noting that Egypt’s non-oil exports rose by 10% year-on-year, or $1.54 billion, during the first eight months of 2018, recording $16.54 billion from $14.99 billion.
