Egypt’s petroleum sector to expand in Africa – Minister

Cairo - Mubasher: Egypt's petroleum sector aims to increase its work in African countries, minister of petroleum and mineral resources Tarek El-Molla said.

Speaking at a meeting with his Cameroonian counterpart, El-Molla highlighted the Egyptian ministry's interest in attracting investments in the field of mineral resources and the development of mineral investment models.

The Cameroonian minister expressed interest in benefiting from the Egyptian experience in training working cadres in the field of mining as well as in organising visits to mining sites in Egypt.

The number of projects for developing gas fields in Egypt has reached around 12 projects, with investments estimated at $33 billion.

Egypt requires around 6.5 million tonnes of fuel, of which part is delivered through national production, while the rest is imported.
