Egypt’s population rises to 94.8m in 2017 – CAPMAS

Cairo – Mubasher: The number of Egyptian population rose to 94.8 million during 2017, the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) on Saturday said.

Egypt’s population increased to 94.8 million from 72.6 million and from 59.2 million in 2017, the CAPMAS added.

The annual growth rate of the Egyptian population increased to 2.56% from 2.04% during the period of 1996/2006 to the period of 2006/2017.

Cairo governorate acquired 10.1% of Egypt’s population, followed by Giza with 9.1%, Sharqia with 7.6%, and Dakahlia with 6.8%.

The lowest ratio of the Egyptian population are in South Sinai governorate, followed by New Valley, Red Sea, Mersa Matruh, North Sinai, Port Said, and Suez.

Males amounted to 51.6%, while females reach 48.4%.
