Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s premier Sherif Ismail and the Minister of Communications and IT (MCIT) are convening now with the Kuwaiti mobile operator Zain for discussing whether to grant the firm a 4G license, said a source at the ministry.
Two days ago, Zain notified the Egyptian MCIT of its willingness to apply for a 4G license, according to a press release.
The National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA) has set the value of 4G license at EGP 3.54 billion ($397 million), of which 50% will be collected in US dollars.
Egypt has around 94 million subscribers to mobile services, according to data by the MCIT.
