Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s public debt totaled EGP 2.3 trillion, while the state budget did not exceed EGP 864 billion, Prime Minister Sherif Ismail said in a televised interview on Monday.
The country’s total domestic debt reached EGP 2.259 trillion ($288 billion) in September 2015, against EGP 2.116 trillion ($270 billion) in June 2015, according to the last report issued by the Central Bank of Egypt.
The debt services obligations reached EGP 250 billion, while an amount of EGP 230 billion was allocated to subsidies in addition to EGP 218 billion was allocated to wages.
The remaining amount of EGP 164 billion was allocated to health, education, housing and other facilities services.
