Egypt's small, micro enterprises reach 2.4m

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) said Sunday that the number of micro and small enterprises reached 2.4 million.

According to the country’s economic census data for 2012/13, the retail & wholesale, manufacturing industries, and other activities represent 57.1%, 15.9%, 27%, respectively, according to CAPMAS statement.

Around 6.3 million employees are working for these facilities, the statement revealed.

Out of the 2.4 million enterprises, there are 4,700 micro facilities where 323,000 persons are working. The retail & wholesale, manufacturing industries, and other activities account for 26.9%, 22.1%, and 51% respectively out of the aggregate number.
