Egypt’s sugar reserves sufficient for 7.5M – Minister

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt has strategic sugar reserves would suffice for seven-and-a-half months, the Ministry of Supply said on Monday.

Last week, Reuters reported, citing the ministry as saying that country had sufficient strategic sugar reserves to last six months.

Egypt expects to produce about 2.3 million tonnes of sugar in 2018 and consume around 3 million tonnes, with the consumption gap to filled through sugar imports.
