Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Tax Authority and Uber Egypt have reached an agreement on the allocation of value-added tax (VAT) in accordance with a law number 67 for 2016, Egypt’s finance minister announced on Monday.
The Ministry of Finance (MoF) is working to accelerate settlements of any tax or customs conflicts related to companies or investors, Mohamed Maait said in a statement.
For his part, Abdel Azim Hussein, head of the tax authority, said that the authority has set the tax gathering mechanism with Uber and other companies operating in the same field, which will boost confidence and collaboration between both parties.
He also added that the MoF is keen on resolving and easing the obstacles facing investors with the ministry and the tax authority.
The authority will focus on settling the remaining tax disputes and collecting dues over the coming months, he indicated.
