Egypt’s tax revenues rise 2% in 10M

Cairo-Mubasher: Egypt’s tax revenues grew by 1.96% or EGP 4.7 billion in the first ten months of the fiscal year 2015/16, according to the Ministry of Finance.

Tax revenues reached EGP 243.8 billion during the period from July 2015 to April 2016, compared to EGP 239.1 billion in the prior-year period.

Non-tax revenues stood at EGP 83.7 billion in the ten-month period of FY2015/16, a rise of 2.1% from EGP 82 billion in the corresponding period of FY2014/15.

Higher tax revenues are mainly attributed to the reform programme launched in July 2014.

Egypt collected EGP 111.7 billion from taxes on consumer goods and services in the first ten months of the current fiscal year, a growth of 14.6% from EGP 97.5 billion in the same period a year earlier.

Income taxes went up 17.2% to EGP 86 billion during the period, compared to EGP 103.7 billion in the same ten months of FY2014/15.
