Egypt’s telecom firms lose 360,000 subscribers in November – Report

Cairo – Mubasher: Egyptian telecom firms’ mobile phone subscribers inched down by 0.38% month-on-month, or 360,000 subscribers, to 93.95 million in November 2018 from 94.31 million.

Year-on-year, the number of subscribers slashed by 4.69%, or 6.74 million, last November, according to a recent report by the Egyptian communication and information technology ministry.

Subscribers of the landline service rose by 2.65% month-on-month and by 21.7% year-on-year in November, reaching 8.12 million, the report revealed.

Meanwhile, internet users via mobile phones increased to 34.37 million, compared to 33.94 million users a month earlier.

The USB modem users in the North African nation reached 3.23 million last November, compared to around 3.29 million in October and 3.25 million users in the same month of 2017, the report indicated.

Moreover, ADSL users amounted to 6.40 million, compared to nearly 6.31 million last October and 2.11 million in November 2017.
