Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s total exports increased by 16.8% year-on-year in 2017, recording $26.29 billion from $22.5 billion.
Non-oil exports grew by 14.5% last year to $22.49 billion, compared to $19.64 billion in 2016, the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) said in a recent statement.
Oil and electricity exports valued at $3.80 billion a year ago, up 32.9% year-on-year from $2.86 billion, the state-run statistics agency added.
Imports to Egypt fell by 6.7% to $66.57 billion in 2017, versus $71.36 billion a year earlier, according to the statement.
Non-oil imports narrowed down to $56.59 billion in the prior year, 10.2% down from $63.05 billion in 2016.
Meanwhile, oil and electricity imports valued at $9.98 billion in 2017, 20.1% down from $8.31 billion a year earlier.
