Cairo - Mubasher: The Egyptian tourism sector suffers monthly losses of nearly EGP 3.2 billion, both directly and indirectly, after the crash of a Russian passenger plane over Egypt's Sinai desert last month, said Tourism Minister Hisham Zaazou.
The hotels occupation dropped from 70% to 30%, as number of countries suspended their flights to Egypt.
The suspension of some countries flights to Egypt has resulted in direct losses of EGP 2.2 billion, in addition to indirect losses of EGP 700 million.
The tourism sector was harmed in November, but it is expected to recover within two or three months, noted Zaazou on the sideline of MEED's Egypt Mega Projects Conference in Cairo.
