Egypt's tourist arrivals down 41% in September

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt has received 473,000 tourists during September 2016, 41% down from 802,000 in September 2015, said the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).

The fall was due to the decrease in the number of tourist from Russia by 64.5%, United Kingdom by 18.1%, Germany by 13.1% and Italy by 3.6%.

The number of tourists from the Middle East region amounted to 34.6% of total arrivals in September, where visitors from Saudi Arabia accounted for 29.6% of total arrivals.

Meanwhile, Western Europe was the second largest region sending tourists with 31.7% of total number of arriving tourists, where German visitors accounted for 40.7% of total arrivals.

The number of tourists from Arab countries reached 192,600 during September 2016, rising 17.7% from 163,600 tourists in September 2015, according to a statement.

Meanwhile, the number of departing tourists reached 513,300 tourists during the month, 37.2% down from 817,000 tourists in the same months last year.
