Cairo – Mubasher: The number of tourists who visited Egypt in fiscal year 2016/2017 rose by 259,700 tourists to 732,700 tourists, according to a report issued by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) on Wednesday.
Tourist nights stood at almost 9.6 million nights in September 2017, versus 3 million nights in September 2016, the CAPMAS added.
Hotels occupancy reached 45.2% year-on-year in April 2017 from 20%, according to the report.
Occupancy rate in terms of the number of rooms stood at 25% in April 2017, versus 11.6% in April 2016, the report noted.
The CAPMAS had previously posted a 32.9% year-on-year surge in the number of tourists arrived to Egypt in May 2017.
The Egyptian minister of tourism Mohamed Yehia Rashed forecasted tourism in Egypt to recover by the end of 2017 and attract about 10 million tourists.
