Egypt’s trade deficit falls 15.4% in October - CAPMAS

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s trade deficit dropped by 15.4% year-on-year to $3.22 billion in October 2017 from $3.79 billion, according to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics’ (CAPMAS) monthly bulletin.

Exports surged by 21.5% to $2.24 billion in October 2017, up from $1.85 billion in October 2016, while imports fell by 3.3% to $5.46 billion from $5.46 billion, the CAPMAS added.

Egypt’s trade minister Tarek Kabil had previously said that the country’s trade deficit dropped 26% year-on-year to $12 billion in the first 11 months of 2017.
