Cairo - Mubasher: Egypt’s trade deficit retreated 33% year-on-year to $34.86 billion in the first nine months of 2017 from $23.39 billion.
Egypt’s non-petroleum exports rose 11% to $16.49 billion in the nine-month period, compared to $14.890 billion in the prior year period, trade minister Tarek Kabil added in a statement.
Imports dropped 20% to $39.880 billion at the end of September from $74.508 billion, Kabil highlighted.
The minister had previously said that trade deficit declined 37% to $20.133 billion from $32.036 billion in the first eight months of 2017.
It is worth mentioning that Egypt’s trade deficit plunged 46.24% to $5.660 billion in the first quarter of 2017.
