Egypt’s trade deficit narrows 26% in April

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s trade balance deficit recorded EGP 23.9 billion in April 2016, compared with EGP 32.3 billion in the same month of the previous year, down 26% according to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).

The country’s exports’ value increased by 14.1% to EGP 16.6 billion in April 2016, up from EGP 14.5 billion in the similar month of the preceding year.

Meanwhile, the imports value retreated 13.5% to EGP 40.5 billion in April 2016, compared with EGP 46.8 billion for the same period a year earlier.

The country’s balance of payment deficit increased to $3.6 billion within the period from July to March 2015/16, compared with $1 billion recorded through the comparable period of the preceding year.
