Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt's unemployment rate fell in the first quarter of fiscal 2016 by 12.7% to 3.6 million unemployed, compared to 12.8% in Q4-15, according to figures released on Sunday by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).
The Egyptian government aims at reducing the unemployment rate to 10-11% by the end of fiscal year 2017/18 in accordance with its programme.
Egyptian President, Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, earlier announced plans to implement seven new national projects for providing more job opportunities.
Unemployment rate of 15-29-year-olds reached 27.3% of the total labour force in the same age group.
Male unemployment rate came to 21%, while female unemployment rate reached 46.8%.
The size of labour force came to 28.4 million individuals, rising 0.4% or 99,000 individuals quarter-on-quarter and 2.6% year-on-year.
