Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt is currently in negotiations with the US to include additional goods under the Qualifying Industrial Zones (QIZ) protocol, the head of the Egyptian Commercial Service Office (ECS) Ahmed Antar said.
The North African nation aims to include exports of fertilizers, food products, and leather products in the QIZ programme, along other goods such as ready-made garments which enjoy tariff-free access to the US, Antar said in an interview with Mubasher.
From January to July, the Egyptian exports to the US under the QIZ protocol rose by 14.3% to $586.8 million from $513.2 million in the corresponding period a year earlier, he added.
