Cairo – Mubasher: Total volume of iron and steel sales in Egypt declined by 10.2% during the first quarter of 2019 compared to the same period last year.
A recent report by the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) showed that the sales volume of iron reached 1.73 million tonnes during the period from January to March 2019 compared to 1.926 million tonnes during the same period in 2018.
Steel production in Egypt decreased by 11.27% to 1.819 million tonnes in Q1-19 from 2.05 million tonnes in Q1-18.
The average steel price reached EGP 11,630 per tonne in Q1 this year from EGP 12,410/tonne in the corresponding period a year ago.
