Egypt settles final $200m debt to Turkey

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt has paid off its final loan installment of $200 million to Turkey, sub-governor markets sector at the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) Rami Abulnaga told MENA news agency.

This is the final installment of a $1 billion loan that Egypt obtained from Turkey in October 2012 during the rule of Egypt's ousted president Mohammed Morsi, Abulnaga highlighted.

Abulnaga had previously said that Egypt settled $750 million of foreign oil firms’ dues.

Egypt paid off about $17.5 billion of foreign loans and liabilities since November 2016.
