Egypt stocks rally at open on Arab buying

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange advanced in Wednesday’s early trading, backed by the strong buying activity among Arab traders.

The main index, or EGX30, rose by 0.9% or 56.8 points to reach 6,477 points, while small and mid-cap index EGX70 gained 0.68% to 358.5 points. Similarly, the equal-weighted index EGX50 ticked higher by 1% to 1,117 points, while the broader index EGX100 pulled ahead 0.54% to 750.6 points.

Most leading stocks were in green, mainly TMG, Palm Hills and Global Telecom. However, CIB, the market’s heaviest weight, edged lower by 0.09% to EGP 33.96.

Arab traders were net buyers by EGP 3.9 million, while nationals and foreign traders were net sellers by EGP 2.7 million and EGP 1.1 million.

Traded value amounted to EGP 56.7 million.

46 stocks moved higher, 6 moved lower and 27 remained unchanged.

GB Auto, Egyptians Abroad, Rakta, Orascom Dev Holding and Palm Hills were the top gainers, while Tourah Portland Cement, Extracted Oils, Sidi Kerir and EGB were the biggest losers.
