Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt aims at narrowing the budget deficit to 6.5% of the gross domestic product (GDP) in fiscal year 2021/2022, compared to the targeted 6.3% in FY20/21 and the actual 7.9% in FY19/20, according to the Ministry of Finance.
The government also plans to reduce the public debt to 77% of GDP by June 2024 from 87% in June 2020, according to a report released on Monday.
During the first quarter of FY20/21, the country achieved a primary surplus of EGP 200 million, the Minister of Finance, Mohamed Maait, revealed.
