Cairo – Mubasher: General Authority for Supply Commodities (GASC) will set on Monday a global tender to import unlimited volume of wheat during the period from 16 to 26 October, according to a press release.
The authority added on Sunday that this tender come after the suppliers refused to submit any offers in the last two tenders as a result for the change of specifications.
The Egyptian government imposed a ban on imported wheat with ergot fungi.
The statement added that the offers will be accepted on Monday 12:00pm and will be reviewed on the same day.
Egypt, the world’s largest wheat importer, consumes around 15 million tonnes of wheat annually, according to governmental statistics.
