Cairo – Mubasher: The electronic visa system (e-Visa) will be activated in the Egyptian airports and outlets within weeks, minister of tourism Yehia Rashed told Shorouk News.
A number of governmental entities started the trial operation of the new entry visa system, including the ministries of foreign affairs, interior, and civil aviation, Rashed added.
Tourism investors estimated the anticipated earnings from the appliance of the e-Visa system through tourism companies at $15 billion per year.
During the Supreme Council of Tourism’s meeting on 7 February 2017, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi asked for maintaining the procedures of the e-Visa system in Egypt by May 2017.
In February 2017, the Egyptian government had raised the entry visa fees to $60 from $25.
